What is there to do this week? It's about dad, an activity to do with dad and something that dad might like to go to!
1. In a word: dad
It’s Father’s Day on Sunday and if you haven’t already got something for the dad, or dads, in your life, you might want to get on to it sooner rather than later.
As well as our great gift ideas here – most of which are available online – or a gift pass to his favourite tv show here, there are a few other things you could try, such as breakfast out, a picnic, a ride or take him to the footy. Or, if he really does have everything he wants, and he wants to give back, try these great gift ideas also:
2. Or … walk for kidney health
Do something for kidney health and take part in the Big Red Kidney Walk.
Currently 1.3 million Australians have undiagnosed kidney disease. There are no warning signs of the disease which means that people can lose up to 90% of kidney function before experiencing any symptoms. Unfortunately, many people are diagnosed late and kidney disease kills more Australians each year than breast cancer, prostate cancer or road deaths.
The Big Red Kidney Walk will take place on Father’s Day, Sunday 1st September from 8am at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne. Start at:
- Lawn 9, Kings Domain
- 3 walks/runs: 1.2km, 3.8km and 7.6km
- Free BBQ and entertainment follows
