It’s been a long day and your mind and body need to unwind. It can sometimes be tricky finding the time to do so, but taking some time out to do just that is actually one of the most productive things
you can do for you and those you love.
Here are some things you can do, ranging from 10 minutes to a couple of hours.
Netflix and Chill, Literally
Grab a bottle of wine (alcoholic/non-alcoholic), some popcorn, chocolate, put your feet up and log in to Netflix. Even if it’s just for a 30-minute episode of something.
If you opt to watch a film, there’s a plethora on Netflix at your disposal. You could watch a comedy, a romantic movie or a film in a foreign language, like a Japanese or a Hindi movie. The following page has a list of the top Hindi movies on Netflix and might be a good place to start.
If you don’t have Netflix, it’s the same premise. Find something to watch, put your feet up. Chill. Sip. Nibble.
Dance
Put on your favorite song and dance! It’s as simple as that. Well, not as simple as that because sometimes, you may not feel like it. But dance anyway! It’s good for unwinding and letting go of any pent-up energy/stress you picked up through the day. Let the dance have it all! Pour it all into the dance.
Meditate
Meditation can help relax you after a long day – and also soon after you wake up. Meditate for at least 10 minutes. Make it a daily ritual, a habit, no matter what your day may or may not bring.
If you’re new to meditation, there are lots of videos on YouTube for beginners. Go with the one that resonates with you.
Soak it All Away
Take a bubble bath. Light up some candles. Drop some scented oil in it, perhaps some lavender oil to relax you. Add some bath salts and some petals. Have some chocolate and fruit with you, and some wine (alcoholic/non-alcoholic). Soak for at least half an hour.
When you climb out the bath, imagine that the busyness and any challenges of the day you’ve had are in that tub – then pull the plug out the bath and imagine it all going down the drain. Whoosh.
Early Night
Have an early night. Go to bed half an hour to an hour earlier than usual if you can. It’ll do you the world of good, especially if you do it right after you’ve taken a bath. You’ll sleep like a baby.
Also, burn a scented candle, some incense, or play some music to listen to as you fall asleep.
While the days do what they do, there are things that can be done to unwind from it all at the end of each day. These can help you let go of the day and return to yourself. Things like dancing, soaking in a tub, and meditation can help you remember that, and help bring you back to center.
