Too lazy to clean your car?:10 Hacks to Make Car Cleaning A Breeze
Date: March 08 2016
There are two kinds of people in this world: those who are able to watch how their car slowly fills with dust, garbage and unidentified objects and do nothing about it and those who just won’t let it happen and think of a clean car as a stronghold of civilization. We get you. We’re on the same page. Nevertheless, cleaning the car still remains a bit of an annoying task for some of us, so we do what must be done: hack our way through it. Here’s how:
1. Sun is not your best friend. Rain might be your arch-enemy when planning to wash the car, but that doesn’t make the sun your friend. If you’re going to wash the car, don’t put it straight under the sun, but under a shade: otherwise it will dry too fast and some dirt spots might be left unnoticed.
2. Pre-wash the tougher parts. Usually, this means lower body panel areas. It’s a horrible thing to lose your washing rhythm to remove a bug, which leads us to:
3. The ultimate bug removal technique. Dissolve a bit of baking soda into water (make sure it’s properly dissolved) to remove those hellish bugs.
4. Tools are your friends. Pressure washers, special brushes and sponges will make things easier, by large. High-pressure air spray guns and vacuum cleaners are plain miracle-makers for the car’s interior.
5. Top washers start from the top. Two golden rules, actually: always start from the roof, and wash your car by parts. Otherwise, you’ll be wasting lots of time – and resources.
6. Dishwasher detergent: don’t. Believe it or not, most people use this for washing their cars. While the detergent is not entirely bad, it will remove protective wax coating, exposing your car to scratches. If available, go for a car-wash solution instead of detergent. Or…
7. Make your own solution! Yes, that’s right. Most are easy mixes done with ingredients found at home. Here, some options.
8. Every once in a while, wax. Ideally, once at the end of each season. Waxing will give your car that ‘new’ look, and will protect the car. A win-win addition.
9. Bags, containers and air-fresheners. A good approach to cleaning begins with being conscious about trash. Keep trash bags for the little things; place silicon cupcake molds in cup holders, tissues and air-fresheners in the compartment. Good cleaning habits start before the actual cleaning.
10. Love will always be in the details. If you keep attention to detail, you’ll only get better at washing your car. You’ll familiarize with difficult or unattended spots, and will actually know a lot more about your vehicle. Take good care of it!
