The importance of self-care for moms:Moms need some TLC too!
Date: October 03 2016
The other day, in the changing room at my gym, I overheard two moms talking:
Mom 1: “I feel so guilty for coming to gym, I feel like I should be spending every second with the kids.”
Mom 2: “I know what you mean, even though working out twice a week is the only time I take for myself, I can’t even enjoy it because I feel so guilty.”
Most moms will on some level relate to the sentiment expressed; we so often feel that we have to be consistently self-sacrificing and must focus on taking care of our children and household before we take care of ourselves. But any mom who has felt the effects of burnout will tell you that taking some time for yourself and practicing some self-care is vitally important for your own health; and will also make you a better, less stressed mother. The saying, “You cannot pour from an empty cup” is so apt here; of course your children are important, but in order to look after them, you need to look after yourself too. Here are some fun ideas of quick, but relaxing things you can do to relax and take some time for yourself.
Online casino games
Just like the moms I overheard in the gym changing room, many moms often feel guilty for leaving their children with a sitter so that they can take time for themselves. A good compromise is to find things you can do at home. Playing online casino games is a great idea; try the best Aussie online casino. You can play on your computer or your mobile phone – so it’s as easy as setting the kids up with a puzzle or a safe craft project that does not require supervision and you can have some fun in the room next door, minus the guilt! Royal Vegas online casino is the best online Aussie casino; giving you access to over 600 casino games; including all of your favorite pokies, video poker and scratch cards. The best part is that when you sign up, you get a new player welcome bonus of $1200!
Look after your body
Looking after your body is so important. Take some time to go get a facial or a manicure (or both!) from time to time. If you have young kids who are not yet in kindergarten; making it difficult to book a spa day –why not plan one at home? While the kids are napping, have a lie down yourself and do a home face mask. There are so many great products on the market from which to choose.
Do something creative
Accessing your creative side is a great way to relax and have a project that makes you feel good at the same time. Painting, crocheting, and mosaicking are good ideas of creative, craft projects that are fun and not too technically difficult. If none of those ideas tickle your fancy, have a look at some other great ideas here.
