Parenting by the Stars: February:

Aries(20/3 – 20/4)

Mars continues its retrograde motion this month, so the frustration at feeling held back remains for your little Aries. Remember that the lesson is patience. For older children it’s a wonderful time to look at reorganizing areas of their life that may need revamping e.g. cleaning out their room. The planet Venus moves into the constellation of Aries on the 8^th, so your little Aries will be focusing on relationships and his/her role in them for most of February. The Full Moon on the 8^th falls in your Aries child’s house of fun, so good times will be highlighted. The New Moon on February 22^nd falls in your Aries child’s 12^th house, making this the perfect time to introduce meditation or quiet time. Friendships will continue to be highlighted for the first 3 weeks, but when the Sun moves into Pisces, you may find your Aries child needing to take some time out.

Aries mums may also find themselves needing some quiet time during the second half of February. The New Moon on the 8^th is a great time to begin a meditation practice.

Taurus(20/4 – 21/5)

The month starts with your little Taurus focused on one of their parents. They may also talk a lot about what they are going to do when they grow up! With the ruler of Taurus moving into the constellation of Aries on the 8^th, you may find a few issues arising regarding relationships for your Taurus child. This could be something that goes on behind the scenes. There is also the possibility that your Taurean child may form a new relationship but keep it a secret. As the month moves on, friends will increase in importance. The Full Moon on the 8^th will highlight issues to do with home and family, while the New Moon on the 22^nd will be a great time to help your little Taurean focus on his/her wishes, hopes and dreams.

Taurean mums may find that they experience a few relationship issues themselves this month. The last week in February is a great time for Taurean mums to join a new group. Make a wish on the New Moon to manifest your own wishes, hopes and dreams!

Gemini (21/5 – 20/6)

Your Gemini child will start the month of February focused on learning. He or she will like to get to the whys and wherefores of everything. As the month progresses, your little Gemini may change focus to his/her goals and what he/she wants to do when he/she grows up. A parent may also become a focus. When Mercury moves into the constellation of Pisces half way through the month, your little Gemini may find that he/she has a few communication difficulties. He/she may find it difficult to make him/herself understood. The Full Moon on the 8^th will bring a focus on siblings. The New Moon on the 22^nd will bring new beginnings in regard to what your Gemini child wants out of life.

Gemini mums may start February dreaming of travel – this is a great time to book a holiday. By the end of the month Gemini mums will be looking at where they are truly headed in life. The New Moon brings a new direction, so take advantage of the energy to focus on any changes you may want to make.

Cancer(20/6 – 22/7)

Your little Cancer is going to be quite intense for most of February. He/she may also be drawn to the things that are taboo to them. Towards the end of the month, learning will become a focus and you may find your Cancer child asking all sorts of questions. The Full Moon on the 8^th will be a particularly sensitive time for your Cancer child, as this is when the lunar energy is strongest. Issues to do with self worth may arise around this time. The New Moon on the 22^nd is also an important time for your little Cancer. Encourage your Cancer child to take advantage of the fresh lunar energy by looking at new ways and things to learn, especially foreign cultures and places.

Cancer mums may find themselves quite withdrawn for the first few weeks of February. Their feelings will run deep. Issues to do with joint finances, death and/or taxes may come to the fore. Things lighten up towards the end of the month where the focus may be on learning or travel. Watch out for any self-worth issues you may have around the time of the Full Moon, as they will be highlighted now.

Leo(22/7 – 23/8)

Relationships will be very important to your little Leo during the first three weeks in February. There is also the potential for issues to do with bullying. The Full Moon in Leo on the 8^th will bring your Leo child into the limelight. For a few days around this time, your little Leo will do what he or she does best – shine! The New Moon on the 22^nd is quite an intense time for your Leo child, as it falls in the eighth house of the Leo chart. This is a good time to introduce your little Leo to the concept of keeping a secret. It’s also a great time to introduce anything to do with mysteries such as books, games & movies. This intensity will continue for the rest of the month.

Leo mums may find that they are quite relationship focused themselves for the first few weeks of February. The New Moon is a good time to review joint assets or to explore the occult.

Virgo(23/8 – 23/9)

Mars continues its retrograde motion in Virgo, so the frustration remains. Move your Virgo child’s focus on to what they can do to improve themselves and their immediate surroundings and remember to encourage them to rest. The focus for most of February is developing and maintaining a routine. Pets will also be important this month. Towards the end of the month, relationships will come into the limelight for your little Virgo. The Full Moon on the 8^th indicates a need for rest and relaxation. Your Virgo child may be quite sensitive during this time. The New Moon on the 22^nd marks new beginnings in relationships for your little Virgo. Best friends could quite possibly come along now.

Virgo mums may continue to try and forge ahead, with most of February being about daily routines. Pay attention to the details and don’t worry too much about the bigger picture – the time isn’t yet right. Try meditation around the New Moon.

Libra(23/9 – 23/10)

The first few weeks of February sees the focus on fun for little Librans. This is also a good time to encourage self-expression. The Full Moon on the 8^th highlights your Libran child’s friendships. The New Moon on the 22^nd falls in your little Librans house of service, so this is a great time to encourage him/her to start doing chores around the house. Venus moves into the constellation of Aries on the 8^th, so there may be some relationship issues throughout the month of February. This is a good time to encourage your Libran child to explore how they feel about themselves without the focus of another (Libran children have a tendency to need another person around in order to function at their happiest and best).

Libran mums will find themselves focusing on their children this month. The Full Moon will highlight your wishes, hopes and dreams on the 8^th – take the time to focus on what they really are. The New Moon on the 22^nd is a great time to introduce a new pet to the family.

Scorpio(23/10- 22/11)

Home and family are an important focus for your Scorpio child for most of the month. The Full Moon on the 8^th will highlight a parental relationship. Your little Scorpio might be particularly sensitive about mum or dad at this time. The New Moon on the 22^nd highlights new beginnings in regard to leisure interests, so introducing something fun is appropriate now. Your little Scorpio may tap into his/her creative side during the last week in February, so encourage this at the time. Mars continues its retrograde journey, suggesting that there may be some frustrations in regard to friendships this month.

Scorpio mums will find that their life direction is highlighted under the Full Moon on the 8^th. The New Moon is a great time to try for a baby if you are planning another child. Continue to focus on your wishes, hopes and dreams.

Sagittarius(22/11 – 21/12)

The focus is on communication for your little Sagittarian this February. Sibling relationships will also be highlighted. The first 3 weeks of February also bring early schooling into focus, which is perfect for any Sagittarian commencing school during this time. The Full Moon on the 8^th will highlight your little Sagittarian’s beliefs, so take anything he or she says seriously during this time. The New Moon on the 22^nd will highlight home and family. Starting new projects around the home is a positive focus for your little Sagittarian. He or she will probably enjoy the security of home life for the rest of the month. There may also be a special closeness with a particular parent at this time.

Sagittarian mums may find that the emphasis is on communication for the first few weeks of the month. Life may seem busy and you could find yourself doing a lot of driving within your local community. As the month progresses, you will be keen to spend more time at home, with the emphasis on your family.

Capricorn(21/12 – 21/1)

Self worth issues come to the fore this month for your little Capricorn. Make sure that you give him/her plenty of positive praise. Earning pocket money may also be highlighted this month. Now is a great time to introduce this concept, as your little Capricorn will enjoy working for his/her money. The Full Moon on the 8^th may see your normally stoic Capricorn child a little more emotional than usual. The New Moon falling in the 3^rd house of your Capricorn child’s chart brings opportunities for new starts in communication – a great time for him/her to start learning to read, work a computer etc. It’s also a good time to take your child out into the local community. Why not visit your local library?

Capricorn mums may find that they are going over old ground at work and also in regard to their life direction. Work will be highlighted for most of February, as will your self-worth so be good to yourself!

Aquarius  (21/1 – 19/2)

The focus is on your little Aquarian for the first few weeks of the month. You will find him/her centre stage during this time.  Your little Aquarian should have a lot of energy and vitality during this time. The Full Moon on the 8^th highlights your Aquarian child’s relationships, while the New Moon on the 22^nd is a good time to work on your child’s self-esteem. It’s also a great time to introduce doing chores for pocket money. With Saturn going retrograde this month, there may be certain morals and beliefs that need reinforcing or going over.

Aquarian mums will enjoy the energy that February brings. Do nice things for yourself as the month progresses to maintain your sense of self-worth. You may find yourself wanting to revisit old holiday destinations this month.

Pisces(19/2 – 20/3)

Your little Pisces may be quite withdrawn for the first few weeks of the month, preferring to spend time alone. However as the month progresses he/she will come out of his/her shell. Neptune moved into the constellation of Pisces early this month, so it is now spending time in the sign that it rules. This will have a very comforting effect on little Pisceans, and a spiritual one too. Mercury also moves into Pisces on the 14^th, adding to the Piscean energy. The Full Moon on the 8^th will highlight the family pet. The New Moon on the 22^nd in Pisces is a wonderful time for your Pisces child to start a new physical activity.

Pisces mums may feel at peace during the month of February. It is a wonderful time for meditation and creative pursuits. Find new ways to express yourself this month!
