How long is it since you last sought a big red post box and popped inside it a handwritten note destined for someone you care for?
If you’re anything like me, my guess is, it’s been a while. With the 'insta-everything' these days, it’s easy to forget about your favourite pen, but a handwritten card is still the most appreciated form of snail mail (well, at least that fits inside an envelope).
So that’s why this May, on behalf of Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA), I'm inviting you to get involved in the first ever Make Time in May campaign which sees OCA partner with Phoenix Traders to produce a pack of 11 beautiful cards. $5 from every purchase of $30 cards will be donated to OCA.
Why May?
It's the month we honour our mums, but it also coincides with second World Ovarian Cancer Day on May 8th. To mark the occasion, people all over the world are being asked to pledge to show their support by signing up to receive an e-card which they will share with five others on May 8. You can sign up here: ovariancancerday.org
Ovarian cancer has the lowest survival rate of any women's cancer and has a five year survival rate that is well below the average of other forms of cancer. Unfortunately, every day four women in Australia are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and three will die from it.
If diagnosed early, the majority of women can survive but there is not yet an early detection test. Amongst other things, money that is raise by OCA through Make Time in May and their other fundraising campaigns helps to support OCA's advocacy, research and support programs.
Please join me in this campaign to Make Time in May and help Ovarian Cancer Australia to achieve its vision of ensuring no woman with ovarian cancer will ever walk alone.
The cards can be purchased online here.
