More couples are expected to fulfill their dream of becoming parents, with the development of a new and more effective embryo culture media by leading fertility clinic, Genea.
Embryo culture media are the vital solutions which support egg, sperm and embryo development outside the human body, providing them with the nutrients they need to develop and grow.
“The new embryo culture media offers Genea patients a 26% greater chance of pregnancy per embryo transferred than media that is currently available and used by many other clinics in Australia and around the world,” said Genea’s Scientific Director, Steven McArthur.
Over the past year, 673 Genea patients have taken part in a clinical trial of the new solutions. Genea scientists have seen excellent results including an increase in the number of eggs fertilised, improved embryo development and more effective embryo freezing and thawing.
Associate Professor Mark Bowman, Genea’s Medical Director, added that the results
“are testament to Genea’s consistent commitment to improve fertility treatment and offer patients the best chance of fulfilling their dream of becoming parents”.
Genea has been developing embryo culture media since the early 1990s, with the solutions it has developed used in more than 600 clinics across 60 countries. The new generation embryo culture media will be available exclusively in Australia at Genea clinics.
Genea currently offers patients a 30% better chance of taking home a healthy baby than the average of all other clinics in Australia and New Zealand.
