Channel Seven has confirmed the Logie Award-winning drama, Packed To the Rafters will finish this year.
“The cast, writers and producers have always said that we wanted to keep Rafters as one of the most-watched shows on TV,” Rebecca Gibney, who plays matriarch Julie Rafter, tells TV WEEK.
With multiple cast exits over the past few seasons denting the show’s momentum, the 48-year-old actress says, “If we ever felt like we were losing too many cast members, we needed to end on a high.”
“We can say that season six winds up an aspect of the Rafter family and there is a sense of finality to it. We’ve said our goodbyes.”
Packed To The Rafters certainly looks set to exit on a high, with confirmation that fan favourites Hugh Sheridan, Jessica Marais and James Stewart will all return for the two-hour finale, scheduled to air in July.
