Some tips:
- Get a dental check up in the 2nd trimester. This is safest for you and your growing bub.
- Bleeding gums are really common during pregnancy, but don’t ignore them. Go to you dentist a couple of times if needed whilst pregnant so that we can help get them under control.
- You pass your oral bacteria onto your child when it is born, so you want to make sure that your mouth is as healthy as possible. There are bacteria specific to decay and specific to gum disease. Regular dental visits will help reduce their numbers and give your child the best start in life.
- Don’t wait for a toothache. We want to ensure that you are as healthy as possible, so get little things checked before they become big ones. A toothache makes things a whole lot more difficult because it can be hard to avoid X-rays and pain killers when a toothache happens. So by getting a broken filling fixed early, we can usually prevent having to do extra treatment.
