As you go about your days, it may surprise you on how quickly the time flies. We all have good intentions to take five minutes for ourselves, but this doesn't always happen with our kids, work, and various activities. Sometimes, you may find it hard to take time to think let alone sit down and relax!
How Essential Oils can Improve Any Mom's Busy Lives
When you feel like you simply can't add another thing to your never-ending to-do list, it's time to take five minutes and relax or gather your thoughts. Essential oils are excellent and fast ways to treat yourself at one or two points throughout the day. So sit back, take a few minutes to center yourself, and let your essential oils work for you.
Six Essential Oil Tips for Busy Moms
1. Remember, Keep Calm and Just Breathe
If you're overwhelmed, and you can't calm down, breathing in the smell of lavender or chamomile are excellent ways to calm your racing thoughts and center yourself. You can add a few drops to your diffuser and let these calming scents envelop your room. Another idea is to get a small glass bottle with a few drops of essential oils and Epson salts. Add the salts and oil to the jar, and you get on-the-go instant relaxation. (1)(2)
2. Focus Yourself to Accomplish your Tasks
Every mom knows what it's like to have a million and one things to do and remember, and this can be overwhelming. Take five minutes or so and mix one or two drops of grapefruit essential oil or rosemary essential oil and mix it with two or three drops of carrier oil and massage it into your wrists or on the bottom of your feet to help you focus. 3. Lift Your Mood with a Breath of Fresh Air
Between kids and pets, you might have some odors that just seem to linger. You don't have time to clean the entire house again, so make yourself a quick spray that will remove those pesky lingering odors, and it can lift your mood too! Mix eight ounces of water in a spray bottle and add in five drops of lemon essential oil. Shake it well and spritz it around your home. (5)
4. Get Glowing and Radiant Skin
Stress can cause breakouts, and you deserve to take a few minutes every night to take care of your skin. To treat breakouts, take 20 drops of tea tree essential oil and mix it with two ounces of your favorite carrier oil. Take a cotton ball and apply this mixture directly to your problem areas each night as part of your nightly routine. (6)
5. Wake up Ready to Take on the Day
Mornings can be hard between getting the kids off to school and getting ready yourself. However, you can start your day off right by mixing four or five drops of peppermint essential oil with two ounces of carrier oil to make a quick massage oil. Massage this blend into your temples and on the back of your neck each morning for a boost of energy. (7)
6. Stay Healthy and Boost Your Immune System
Kids seem to catch every cold or bug that goes around and bring it home so everyone could benefit from a boost to the immune system. You can diffuse six to eight drops of Thieves essential oil in your home or make a disinfectant spray by mixing four or five drops of essential oils in eight ounces of water and regularly spraying your counters or furniture.
