With the kids, the house and work, we know how challenging it can be to wear many hats. That’s why here at Motherpedia, we’re all for life hacks that can make mum’s life a little bit easier.
When it comes to hacks, flour wouldn’t really be the first thing that will come up. However, you’ll find it quite remarkable that it has so many uses other than for baking your kid a cake. Here are some:
1. To clean the sink. Does your stainless sink look less shiny than you’d like it to be? Use flour to buff the dull areas, allow it to sit for a couple of minutes, rinse off and you’ll have a shiny, new-looking sink in your kitchen.
2. To repel ants. Do you have an ant problem at home? If you want a chemical-free solution, just line flour across the place where you see ants entering and you’ll soon find your home ant-free.
3. To create moldable clay. Get craft at home with flour! Simply mix four cups of flour, two cups of salt and two cups of water then store in an airtight container. Bake it if you want to make it last longer.
5. To help vegetables grow healthier. Do you grow your own food? Squash and potatoes are said to grow better if you sprinkle them with flour while still in the ground since flour helps repel pests.
6. To fight pimples. If you need to get rid of a nasty pimple, all you need to do is mix ¼ cup of flour with a cap of pure honey and a slight squeeze of orange juice then apply to the pimple. Cover it with bandaid and let it sit until the next morning.
Isn’t it amazing that an everyday product like flour has so many other uses (aside from the obvious)? Try these out and let us know how it goes!
