Holiday fun gets underway in Perth for the next two weeks, a Melbourne cultural icon turns 101 and it's time for everyone to do their Christmas cards - that's if you do them!
1. Every day until December 20
If you’re in Perth, get along to Karrinyup Shopping Centre for their wonderful Santa’s cookie decorating workshops.
Kids of all ages are welcome from 9.30am to 1.30pm to share in the fun with Santa’s helpers and create their own Christmas cookie masterpiece! They’re perfect for a tree decoration or to have as a gift for visitors over the festive season.
The workshop is located on the Ground Floor and it is free. Parents must stay with their children.

2. Friday 13th
It’s Friday the 13th this week and Luna Park in Melbourne is celebrating its 101st birthday with three new rides and a free community concert.
The free concert will be headlined by iconic Aussie rocker, Daryl Braithwaite, who has had a distinguished career spanning more than 40 years. He’ll sing all his chart-topping hits, and also be joined on stage by Sinead Beth and others.
The new rides to be unveiled include the electrifying thrill ride, The Power Surge, the wet and wild ‘aqua’ coaster Pirates Revenge and the floating bubbles full of fun, Bumper Bubbles.

3. The weekend
If you haven’t done your Christmas cards yet, and you’re amongst the 50% of people who do send them, then it’s time to do so. If you are the friendly type who likes to keep in touch at this time of the year, also do a good turn by purchasing cards from a charity or good cause. Not only is the cause-related or charity Christmas card an opportunity to make a ‘statement’ for those who send them, it’s also a welcome addition to fundraising for many organisations.
- www.oxfamunwrapped.com.au – not only do they have cards, but all-in-one gift cards such as a donkey for $15 or toys for $29. (A great way to let the children in your life that others are not so fortunate!)
- www.rspcagifts.org.au – hard to resist (Also Read: The Ultimate Guide to Pet Adoption)
- www.christmascards4charity.com.au – choose from a wide array of national and local charities
And if you want to go digital, make a donation to the charity of your choice instead and then send a very swish e-card instead. We love: www.paperlesspost.com
