Woolworths has updated its mobile phone App to allow consumers to shop around for the cheapest petrol prices.
The updated App checks the cheapest prices amongst more than 500 Woolworths and Caltex petrol stations as well as rival petrol stations within a 3 kilometre radius.
Woolworths have introduced the feature because petrol prices are a “red button cost of living issue” according to the Managing Director of Woolworths Australian Supermarkets, Tjeerd Jegen.
“We understand the financial pressure many of our customers are under. The cost of living remains a top of mind issue with many feeling like more of their money is going out than is coming in. We take our responsibility to our customers seriously to keep prices low and to help them with their everyday needs,” Mr Jegen said.
The ‘Check and Compare’ feature on the App will be updated every 15 minutes with prices continuously checked by a service known as Informed Sources.
Mr Jegen said this will help customers manage a major household cost by making it easier to know what prices are without having to drive around to compare them.
To date, the App has had almost 2 million downloads and has proven to be more popular than a similar one introduced by the Federal Government five years ago.
