Who wants to be a jillaroo?:A new ABC series that is unlikely to tempt Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha.
Date: October 20 2012
The ABC is searching for women who want to swap their Manolo Blahniks for some RM Williams riding boots.
A series called Jillaroo School, which will air next year, is looking for `ordinary' female applicants seeking to do something completely different.
The six-part series will follow the journeys of the women selected for the outback experience.
The wannabe jillaroos will be trained by South Australia's famous horse master, Bill Willoughby, who has trained many actors in productions including McLeod's Daughters and The Lighthorsemen.
The ABC says applicants can be aged from 18-45 and from all walks of life but need to be interested in a new challenge.
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for someone to shake up their life and try something totally different,” said the Acting Head of Factual for ABC TV, Karina Holden.
"Jillaroo School is about a real issue in rural Australia today. The shortage of skilled workers on the land means this documentary series will give women the chance to step up to the saddle and show the men they can hack it."
