From today, entertainment lovers can instantly stream and download the hottest international releases and watch them on any device - anytime, anywhere – because of a cutting edge new online service, EzyFlix.tv.
In four words: do we need Foxtel?
As the national broadband network becomes more accessible, Ezyflix.tv – and any new services that come after it - will present an attractive alternative to existing subscription providers such as Foxtel, QuickFlix and Fetch-TV. It's also a relevant question in light of recent research which shows that we each waste around $400 a year on TV shows we never watch.
Ezyflix.tv is an on-demand, pay-per-view model with neither a subscription nor set-top box required and with no tie-in or lock-in. As well as being ‘on-demand’ with a 48-hour window to watch, there is also an option to download-to-own. It’s the first of its kind in Australia and it means you can watch what you want, when you want on any device - smartphone, tablet, PC, Smart TV - either online or offline.
Ezyflix.tv includes favourite and latest TV shows as well as kids shows and movies. And to make things easier for busy parents, the EzyKidz section has a range of titles that can be sorted by age groups.
From today, there’s a library of 2,000 titles including popular movies like The Avengers, Django Unchained, This is 40 and A Good Day to Die Hard, with plans to grow the offering five-fold. The TV programs on offer include Breaking Bad – yes, including the current series! – Revenge, Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl and more. Single episodes are $2.99; if you wanted to buy the series of Breaking Bad (or others), you can opt for a season pass for $19.99. (Sadly The Newsroom isn’t available).
CEO of Access Digital Entertainment, owners of EzyFlix.tv, Craig White, says it will help remove many of the barriers that exist for people wanting the best and latest entertainment offerings.
“Australians are hungry for new release movies and US TV shows and tired of feeling like they’re behind the rest of the world. EzyFlix.tv provides affordable, convenient and timely access to top international video content, express from the US, without any subscription fees, contracts or the need for a set top box.
“It also allows people to build their own digital movie and TV library in the cloud and has been designed specifically to meet the needs of the ‘connected consumer’ who wants to be able to access their chosen content via multiple devices at any time,” said Mr White.
Mr White said EzyFlix.tv has struck content deals with all major Hollywood studios and distributors including 20th Century Fox, NBCUniversal, Paramount Pictures, Roadshow Films, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros.
EzyFlix.tv is also the first retailer of the latest cloud-based digital rights system known as UltraViolet (UV).
“UV offers people a digital ‘locker’ and gives them the ability to share purchased UV content with up to five friends for free,” Mr White said.
Mr White said EzyFlix.tv will revolutionise digital entertainment in Australia, improving access and offering better value to both small and big screen fans from all walks of life.
The introduction of EzyFlix.tv also explains why the major sports, such as AFL, NRL, cricket and football, are able to command large TV rights. The competitive edge in the rapidly evolving digital and televisions markets is anything which is live and happening right now – and there’s nothing quite like ‘live’ sport to fulfil that criterion.
