You're in Sydney, and want to bag a designer bargain? Fed up with trying to find something online that’s cheap yet chic and actually fits?
Summer Opp Shop for Barnardos:Looking for a fashion bargain? Here's the place to find one if you're in Sydney this coming week.
Date: October 28 2012
Designers and the who’s who of fashion in Sydney have teamed up with Barnardos to ensure that you can snap up a bargain, and help Australian kids in crisis at the same time.
Barnardos is a non-government, non-denominational child welfare charity that has been helping children in crisis for over 120 years. It is one of the largest children’s charities in Australia, caring for children at risk of or suffering the effects of abuse and neglect. The work of Barnardos Australia focuses on the prevention of abuse, neglect and entry into care. Children of all backgrounds and cultural heritage are helped through a range of welfare programs including crisis care, family support, counselling and permanent foster care.
Starting this Wednesday, you can shop til you drop without guilt at the three-day summer sale organised by the Peter Pan Opportunity Committee.
From vintage dresses to brand new sass & bide jeans, bargain hunters can loosen their purse strings knowing every dollar spent will go to Barnardos Australia to help care for Australian children at risk of, or suffering the effects of, abuse and neglect.
The first sale in 1941 was such a hit it caused a traffic jam! Ever since, Sydney buyers with a social conscience and an eye for fashion return twice a year to trawl through the chic array of top-end items at rock bottom prices. Pre-loved and vintage clothes, shoes and accessories as well as brand new designer wear and end of season stock - everything is an up-cycling opportunity.
Regular supporters of the biannual sale, Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton (aka sass & bide), have generously donated a shipment of brand new jeans that will be on sale for as little as $20!
“This sale is a great way for people to find that special piece of clothing and make a very special contribution to our children at the same time,” said Manisha Amin, Barnardos’s director of marketing and fundraising.
“In tough economic times, the most vulnerable people need the most help. When one child dies every three days in Australia as a result of abuse or neglect, we know the Summer Sale will raise critical funds to support children before they become a statistic.”
