Want to brighten the day of your favourite mum this Mother’s Day (next Sunday), but you're not into presents?
Here are three alternatives to consider.
The first is an e-card with pre-written – or your own – messages of encouragement. For every card sent, shared or ‘liked’, Johnson & Johnson’s Baby division will donate US$1 to the Save the Children fund. The e-card can be sent at any time but Johnson’s Baby says Mother’s Day is a great time to let a mother in your life know you’re thinking about her. You can find out more here.
Never a cause to miss an opportunity, the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia invites you to make a donation to breast cancer research instead of buying a gift. In return, you receive a beautiful card to give mum which honours her and all women in a lasting way. Make a donation here.
Also for breast cancer, the National Breast Cancer Foundation is hosting its annual Mother’s Day fun run (or walk), the Mothers Day Classic. Last year, the Classic raised $4 million for the Foundation and, with this lovely autumn weather around at the moment, organisers are hoping this year’s total will be even better. If you want to walk, run or sponsor someone else who is, check out the details here.
Or, perhaps you'd like to do one or all of the above and give the women who are mum's in your life a gift. Here are some Mother's Day gift ideas ranging from $10 up to more than $220.
