You can do almost everything else online - and here’s the latest.
A new online service that helps people choose a lawyer has been launched out of Sydney.
The technology behind the site analyses the legal issue involved and invites only those lawyers and firms with experience to submit a fixed-price offer for the legal services required.
According to the Founder, Rameez Ullah, this immediately saves money by avoiding the initial consultation fees that lawyers charge.
“It also helps bring down the total cost as the competition and transparency drives prices down,” he says.
The entire process occurs anonymously which means no names or personal details are captureduntil the customer is ready to hand that information over.
“When consumers go to many of the larger law firms, they often payover $300 an hour and still end-up with a junior lawyer handling their matter. It’s ridiculous. On Rocketlegal, we only allow senior lawyers to participate.”
He says that site “empowers” people who need a lawyer to hire one at the price law firms want to charge for juniors straight out of university.
“We have created transparency inpricing for all kinds of legal services and we have created a rating/feedback system that enablesAustralians to analyse a lawyer’s track record before hiring them.”
Ullah says it’s easy to use Rocket Legal. “All an individual has to do is become a memberof the site, which is free. They would then input some information about their legal issue in everydaylanguage, and sit-back and wait for responses.”
Rocket Legal follows on from recent similar developments including Dutch Auction Auto for car purchases and 1st Available for making appointments with a wide variety of health care professionals online.
