In line with the easing of government restrictions across the country, Event Cinemas, Australia’s largest cinema network, has announced it is set to welcome movie lovers back from today with a half-price ticket offer and a mix of new and much loved films.
· Reopening commences today, 25 June, in the Northern Territory. This will be followed by a staggered reopening of Event Cinema sites from 2 July, with final locations scheduled to open by the end of July*.
To celebrate the reopening, for a limited time, Event Cinemas will offer half price adult tickets for Cinebuzz members valid across all sessions and all movie experiences including Gold Class, Boutique, 4DX and V-Max. The Cinebuzz Rewards program is free to join at www.eventcinemas.com.au/Cinebuzz.
Luke Mackey, Director of Entertainment Australia, Event Cinemas said, “Australians can look forward to their local cinema reopening and watching movies on the big screen again, as part of a staggered approach to reopening that will see locations opened nationally by the end of July, in time for the first new big screen blockbusters Mulan (23 July) and Tenet (30 July).
In the largest Australian survey of cinema-goers** undertaken by Event Cinemas it was revealed that Australians are looking forward to getting back to the cinema:
· 98% of people are looking forward to cinemas reopening
· 94% say they intend to visit cinemas as often, if not more than before
· 83% say they plan to visit the cinema in the first three months reopening.
Blockbuster line up and a world of experiences under one roof
As cinemas reopen, Australians can expect a great line up of movies between now and the end of the year, with strong content in the pipeline, including but not limited to Unhinged (July), The Personal History of David Copperfield (July), Broken Hearts Gallery (July), Babyteeth (July), High Note (August), Slim & I (August), Antebellum (August), Bill and Ted 3: Face the Music (August) as well as Wonder Woman 1984, Black Widow, No Time to Die, Death on the Nile, Westside Story and Peter Rabbit 2.
In addition, cinemas will be showing popular recently released movies like Bad Boys for Life, Joker, Knives Out, Invisible Man and Sonic the Hedgehog and retro content on Superhero Sundays and Friday Fright Nights.
Movie lovers also have a variety of big screen experiences available; from Gold Class, Event Boutique, 4DX and Event Junior for the little ones, through to the big screen V-Max experience that now offers a choice of seating including premium recliners and daybeds at many sites.
Luke Mackey, continued, “We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to cinemas. At Event we deliver choice in how you choose to watch movies. In the last six months we have quadrupled the number of our much loved daybeds in V-Max theatres, opened two Event Junior theatres and three new 4DX multisensory cinemas, providing more choice to more movie-lovers right across the country”.
Enhanced customer experience offers added peace of mind
Event Cinemas will roll out a range of new sanitisation and wellbeing initiatives as part of reopening. The customer experience will evolve to include contactless booking and check-in via the Event Cinemas booking website and app, cashless operations on site, including in the candy bar, staggered session times, hand sanitiser stations, social distancing measures (where applicable) in foyer and theatre areas and increased frequency of cleaning.
In addition, Event will introduce Intelligent Social Distanced Ticket Bookings as an alternate to checker-board seating currently being used as the industry standard. Event’s custom-built Intelligent Social Distanced Ticket Booking system will allow family and friends to book seats together in a block, automatically distancing the group from other customers, by blocking seats directly in front and beside the group.
Luke Mackey, said, “The wellbeing and comfort of our customers and teams is always our number one priority and as we reopen our doors we do so with these tailored sanitisation and wellbeing measures in place, so that movie lovers can return to our cinemas with confidence.
“We know that movies can offer a wonderful escape. We are thrilled to be reopening our doors and look forward to welcoming audiences back to their local cinema to enjoy watching a movie on the big screen again”.
