10 year old environmental activist, Tiana Atkinson, says the best buy this Christmas is Adopt-a-Dolphin.
“It’s a gift that supports the Dolphin Research Institute for dolphin protection,” she said.
For $98, the recipient receives a quarterly newsletter from the Institute, associate membership and invitations to open days and other special events – including an opportunity to swim with dolphins. Children receive something extra in their Adopt-a-Dolphin pack.
Executive Director of the Dolphin Research Institute, Jeff Weir, said the Adopt-a-Dolphin program is now in its 20th year and some supporters have been supporters since the beginning of the program.
“Over 20 years, Adopt-a-Dolphin has enabled crucial research which has directly helped dolphin protection and develop the ‘I sea, I care’ ambassador program to nurture young marine leaders, such as Tiana.
“Of course, you don’t get your own dolphin. It’s about protecting 150 or so dolphins that make their home in Victorian waters each year.”
