Improve your environment - motherpedia

There’s no doubt that we‘re fortunate to live on this beautiful planet we call home. We’re also privileged to be the stewards of its vast resources, landscapes, oceans, and the atmosphere we breathe. You could say that as its citizens, we have the health of the world in our hands. We have the power to improve the environment at home, work and play, by taking responsibility for what we think, say and do. Such action is beneficial. It’s good for your health - and that of the world.

THOUGHT RECYCLING
These days there are so many small things we can do as individuals to improve our living environment. We can thoughtfully and responsibly dispose of plastic, paper and green waste via our household recycle bins. We can consider extending the usefulness of something that’s served its initial purpose, through garage sales or thrift shops. We can also help ourselves and our surroundings by participating in thought recycling – sharing useful, life-improving ideas with others.

TIP:

  • Pass along constructive, or health-promoting ideas that can improve the mental and physical wellbeing of people and the community. You can obtain them from inspirational books, social media posts, thought-leaders, work colleagues, friends and family.
  • Share positive stories from your own experience. What you’ve learned in life can inspire someone else. It can help them to improve their environment.
  • Show your appreciation to others at home, school and work for the worthwhile things they’re doing. “Action expresses more gratitude than speech”. Science and Health p. 25

IMPROVE YOUR ENVIRONMENT
As human beings, we’re all benefitted by life-improving suggestions. The good ideas that others have found useful, can help you overcome worry, sickness or despair . They can also improve your home, workplace and community environments. Such changes for the better, often start with the seed of a good idea – with just one good thought. When nurtured with hope and firm resolve, it can flourish and lead to a harvest of progressive and beneficial outcomes.

TIP:

  • Promote change for the better. Don’t pollute your mental or physical environment through careless words or actions. “Never breathe an immoral atmosphere, unless in the attempt to purify it.” – Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health p. 452
  • Be an “improver”. Be a thinker and doer. Practice ideas which are “true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” – Bible, Philippians 4:8. Doing this can improve your environment, and what’s more, it’s good for your health - and that of this planet.
