Coles supermarkets and Coles Express are celebrating after raising more than $2.1 million this year for Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day campaign.
All funds raised by Coles and Shell Coles Express for Daffodil Day benefit the Cancer Council Helpline - a free and confidential telephone service, providing emotional and practical support for people affected by cancer in Australia.
Anyone can call Cancer Council Helpline - cancer patients, people living with cancer, their families, carers and friends, teachers, students and healthcare professionals. Specially trained staff are available to answer questions about cancer and offer emotional or practical support.
Stores in New South Wales raised the most money on the day, contributing $331,109 towards the total. Victorian stores came a close second, raising $302,455, followed by Queensland with $185,278. Western Australian stores managed to ring in $102,378, followed by South Australia with $81,695.
General Manager of Coles Express and a Cancer Council ‘Face of Hope’ Peter Short said: “Daffodil Day is an important fundraising event to which we’re absolutely committed.”
Cancer Council CEO, Prof Ian Olver said: “We are thrilled with the amount of money raised this year for Daffodil Day. Coles supermarkets and Coles Express customers were able to dig deep and these funds will help the Cancer Council continue its mission of offering support to those affected by cancer.”
