40 per cent of Australian pet owners say they have cut back on groceries for the family but not for the family pet, according to latest customer satisfaction data.
A Canster Blue survey of 804 Australians shows just how much Australians loved their pets and the lengths they would go to ensure the feathered and furry are well kept.
“According to these results they sometimes fare better than anyone else in the home,” says Rebecca Logan from Canster Blue.
“It was interesting to see that pet food may survive as one of the last household items to feel the force of any budgeting adjustments.”
“One in three respondents said they had cut back on the family grocery bill but would not skimp on food for their pet, and one in four went so far as to say their pet eats better than they do.”
“There are plenty of people who say they prefer animals to humans and when it comes to the family pet - often they are indeed ‘one of the family’,” says Ms Logan.
43% of survey respondents said “no one understands them” like their pet.
