This family adventure just an hour from Sydney will have all the fun and excitement of camping but without the stress of setting up tents.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will provide and pitch the tents, collect and stack the firewood and even provide the food – families just need to bring themselves.
Travis Roberts, area manager for Bents Basin State Conservation Area said NPWS wanted to keep the fun in camping and at the same time making it safe and easy for families to give it a go.
“One of the ways we are doing this is to have the tents set up and ready to go,” says Travis.
“When families go camping it’s often the tent that causes the most hassle – especially the first time round.
“With WilderQuest First Time Family Camping we do all the hard work and allow families to enjoy the fun bits of camping including spotlighting, stargazing, bushwalking, swimming or just relaxing.
“It’s already been a success in Lane Cover River Tourist Park and we believe it will also be popular at the beautiful Bents Basin, especially with our picturesque landscape at the base of the Blue Mountains just an easy one hours drive from Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra.”
Families will have their own dedicated campsite and have the option of bringing their own food or having meals provided.
They will be able to park next to their tent to make it easier to access personal items. Amenities (including hot showers) are close by, and with restricted numbers they really will feel they are getting away from it all without having to travel too far.
“Families just need to bring their sleeping bags, towels, toiletries, the kids … and a sense of adventure. We’re even providing camp stretchers to help families get a good night’s sleep, and wood for a campfire," says Travis.
