Whether you are hosting family for the holiday season or you have an out of town friend coming to stay with you, it is important to be able to impress any guests that will be staying in your home. You can do this through the items you choose to provide them with.
Everyone needs a good night's sleep and it is easier for your guests to get one when you provide them with high quality linens on their bed. A feather bed or mattress pad lets your guests know that their comfort is important to you. Down comforters and blankets are also a nice touch, especially during the winter months. Don't forget to add some extra pillows to the bed so they can pick and choose the ones that will be the most comfortable to them.
Placing hooks on the door of the bedroom or bedrooms your guests are staying in is also a great way to impress them. It gives them a place to hang a jacket, sweater or other similar item of clothing. It is also a great place for your female guests to hang their handbag.
Since most people start the day with a long, hot shower, another way to impress your guests is to provide them with their own towels in the bathroom. Extra bath towels should be provided for your guests; the thicker the towels are the better. If your guests are visiting during the summer months and you have a pool in your backyard, be sure to provide beach sized towels for your guests.
To truly give your guests a touch of home, provide them with some simple refreshments in their room. A pitcher of lemonade or water beside the bed, along with some plastic cups will make it easy and convenient for your guests to refresh themselves before bed, in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning. Along with the pitcher, consider leaving them with a snack as well.
Rather than allowing your guests the opportunity to grow bored while they are visiting, provide them with some reading material. It is easy to fill the nightstand next to their bed with coffee table books and even paperbacks if you choose to. A great way to get rid of any excess books you might have is to offer them to your guests and allow them to take the books home. The wider variety of books you provide your guests with the more likely they are to feel taken care of. To take it one step further, consider placing a small coffee maker and/or teapot in the room as well. Setting up a coffee/tea station can easily be done on a dresser.
While your guests are staying with you, it is important to do everything you can to make them feel at home. One way to do that is to ensure that they have space in the closet of the room they will be staying in. No one wants to live out of their suitcase, so giving them closet space along with the comfort of hospitality furniture is a nice gesture. Adding luggage racks and luxury hangers to their closet will go far in making them feel welcome and leaving them with a great impression of your hosting skills.
When preparing a bedroom in your home for guests that are coming to visit soon, as long as they or you are not allergic, leaving an arrangement of flowers beside their bed will serve to impress him.
