The shoe brand recently undertook a comprehensive survey on Australian and New Zealand women’s shoe buying habits with some surprising results. Even though splurging on shoes makes us Aussie women feel good, we’re not as bad as perhaps our males partners think on the shoe buying front.
In a nutshell, Ziera’s survey found:
- The average Australian woman buys around 4.3 pairs of shoes a year; will spend around $301; at an average of $70 per pair
- The average Kiwi woman buys 3.8 pairs a year; will spend around $280; at an average of $74 per pair
They may have Carrie Bradshaw, but the average American woman buys less shoes than her Aussie or Kiwi counterparts.
- In the US, the average number of shoes bought per year is 3, at an average of $US49 per pair ($AUD46), totalling $US147 ($AUD137) per year (source: ShopSmart Magazine)
However, the country with the most shoe addicts (who go for quantity over quality) is Britain.
- In the UK, the average number of shoes bought per year is 8, at an average of 36 pounds ($AU53) per pair, totalling 285 pounds ($AUD419) per year (source: The Daily Mail)
