Super heroes captivate:Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are still tops with children.
Date: October 17 2012
We all have our favourite super heroes – and the top two amongst Australian children are Batman and Superman with Wonder Woman taking out first place amongst girls. It’s the second year in a row the trio has been named as the top three.
Managing Director of Warner Bros Consumer Products in Australia and New Zealand, Preston Kevin Lewis, said their continuing popularity is testament to the “ongoing and enduring appeal of these iconic characters” and their stories.
“They continually resonate with youngsters across the globe and are as relevant today as they ever have been.”
Batman continues to capture young hearts and minds with his crime fighting skills, martial arts, problem solving, strategic thinking and impressive gadgets – not to mention his loyal assistant, Robin, and an array of super villains.
Superman remains invincible and incorruptible, and has strong values matched by physical strength and an ability to fly.
Wonderwoman, who is the favourite of girls aged 6-13 years, has strength, wisdom, beauty, kindness and courage as well as having healing capabilities.
Favourite animal characters of Australian children include Bugs Bunny, the cute canary Tweety and the street-smart, savvy dog who makes ‘scary’ fun, Scooby-Doo.
