For many parents, a re-useable water bottle will be on the list of essential back to school items and the choices these days seem endless.
Parents are being urged to purchase a ‘refillit’ bottle and help provide relief to some of the world’s poorest communities.
Currently around 800 million people globally do not have access to safe drinking water. One dollar from every refillit bottle sold is donated to WaterAid to help fund projects in East Timor, providing access to clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene – so the benefits of purchase reach far beyond the schoolyard.
The refillit campaign is headed by not for profit organisation, the savewater! Alliance, and is a movement of people who are choosing to refill their water bottles to help the environment, stay healthy and donate money towards some of the poorest communities in the world.
The refillit bottle is BPA free, Australian made and is durable enough for the schoolyard, it will stand up to the rigors of any student’s day. The sipper lid and squeezable bottle make it easy to drink from, and the handle on the lid makes transport around the schoolyard stress-free.
Nigel Finney, CEO of the savewater! Alliance, believes it is important to contribute much needed aid to those who do not have the luxury of clean, safe drinking water and that the refillit campaign can be a useful tool in teaching Australian school children the value of giving and helping those less fortunate.
“It can sometimes be all too easy for us in Australia to forget how lucky we are. By making a simple purchase of a refillit water bottle we can help provide less fortunate children and families access to clean drinking water, an essential element to life,” says Mr Finney.
By committing to use the refillit bottle, school children will also be making a difference locally, reducing waste that ends up in landfill or as unwanted litter in the environment.
Refillit bottles are available to purchase online at http://www.refillit.com.au for $12.95 plus delivery.
