The Youth Participation Grants Program encourages young people in New South Wales to more actively participate in their community through the creation and implementation of community-based youth-led projects.
Since 2007, the program run by the Youth Action and Policy Association has provided more than 50 groups of young people with funding to create and implement local projects.
This year the association will be awarding a total of $50,000 in grants to NSW young people, with $25,000 specifically for young people in Western Sydney.
Funding for this grants program has been made possible though the NSW Government Youth Opportunities and Community Builders Programs.
“This is a truly exciting program and its success has been proven time again over the last 6 years,” Youth Participation Grants Program Coordinator, Osman Faruqi, said.
“We’ve seen everything from anti-bullying campaigns to art exhibitions, drug and alcohol forums to skate and music competitions and community showcases.”
“I can’t wait to see what is brought to us this year!”
Western Sydney Project Coordinator, Alex Long, said he is looking forward to running the program with the support of the NSW Government and that “these grants will provide young people in Western Sydney a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in their communities.”
