You used to have great sex – but now you’re a mum. What happened? Lost interest or energy? If this sounds like you, don’t worry! You’re not alone.
Here's some tips on how to feel like your former sexy self again. Try one or two of them - or even all - to rekindle the passion.
1. Get some new PJs. Those flannelette things? No. Get rid of them. You might not feel like something skimpy and in satin, but perhaps a slightly too tight t-shirt and knickers is fine. The basic rule? If you feel cute wearing it, then wear it!
2. Say something nice to your spouse. Everyone likes a compliment. Whatever works for him (or her – in all instances a ‘him’ may be replaced with ‘her’ if that’s applicable).
3. It doesn’t have to be night time. Too tired at night? Then try the morning. Or maybe a ‘nap’ on a weekend afternoon.
4. Surprise him! You’re surrounded by kiddy stuff. You see your beloved helping get the youngest into her chair. You whisper a sweet nothing in his ear while you serve the mashed potato and lamb chops. Woo-hoo! He’s so interested he’ll be very quick in helping pack up the dishes and get the kids to bed.
5. Slumber party. Well, kids have them. Why not you? But see number (1) first!
6. Have a night out. Yes, really out. Don’t just book a table for dinner somewhere. Arrange the babysitting for overnight, book a hotel room, book dinner, have a leisurely brunch. If you can afford it, splurge!
7. Or, have a night in. Arrange to have a special meal at home just with him. While one of you puts the kids to bed, the other gets a take-away meal. Have a bottle of champagne on ice – and just have a lovely time in each other’s company, because that’s how you got here in the first place!
