East Village shopping centre in Zetland, NSW, is celebrating the best of Australia’s up and coming food trends this April with a host of mouth-watering foodie experiences, as well as a chance to win an exclusive dinner experience with celebrity Masterchef, Justine Schofield, as part of Tastes of East Village.
Marketing Manager, Nicole Addinall, said the Tastes of East Village campaign would also be working alongside Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation, Foodbank, to collect and donate meals throughout the month.
The Tastes of East Village, which takes place April 9 – 22, will involve unique pop-ups and workshops, including Mixology 101 – a cocktail master class where participants can not only learn to create imaginative cocktails but also sample their delicious creations (April 11,
5pm-7pm).
Want to understand the art of molecular gastronomy? There will also be a class dedicated to making matcha molecular ice-cream (April 19, 5pm-7pm).
Superfoods. They are now all around us but what are their secrets and how can they improve our health? This is another topic being explored at the many classes and experiences at the Tastes of East Village.
There is also a child-friendly workshop during the school holidays (April 16, 11am-1pm) with lessons on raw treats and vegan delights, as well as gluten-free and sugar-free desserts. Kids will also learn the benefits of eating a rainbow of fruit and veg (April 20, 11am-1pm), with healthy treats to take home.
Always wanted to learn how to make authentic Neapolitan Pizza? Acclaimed pizza chef Lucio De Falco will be holding a master class on April 21, 10am-12pm.
The majority of the master classes and workshops are pre-booked at $10 per class with funds also going to Foodbank.
Tastes of East Village National Ambassador and TV personality, Justine Schofield, said, “As part of Tastes of East Village, the centre is celebrating all things food! There’s new dining experiences, special food offers and a whole range of food celebrations happening over the coming weeks.”
Participants of Tastes of East Village will also have the opportunity to win a degustation dinner for 10 friends designed and cooked by Justine Schofield, plus 200 copies of Justine’s cookbooks will also be up for grabs by visiting www.winataste.com.au.
Salmon & Bear, which has reinvented the humble fish and chip shop, will be including Justine’s poke bowl recipe as a part of their menu for the event, with $2 from the sale of each bowl being donated back to Foodbank.
East Village will be running a community food drive, installing a food collection box to help raise awareness and collect non-perishable grocery items for national charity Foodbank. Instagram uploads of meals purchased in-centre with the hashtag #tasteofgiving, will also see East Village donate one meal to Foodbank and assist in feeding some of the 3.6 million Australians experiencing food insecurity each year. To help the public find out more, there will be an in-centre exhibition of 12 personal portraits displayed in centre, showcasing the compelling stories of Australians who are currently facing food insecurity.
Explore, taste and indulge in the Tastes of East Village with the free experiences also on offer. These include:
-
Bike for your bun. Mr. Bao and Virgin Active have joined forces for redeemable Tastes dollars where participants can peddle a kilometre for $1 towards their favourite gourmet steamed bun.
