Amongst all the excitement in the lead-up to Royal Birth last week, Hobart's Heart 107.3FM had a much bigger concern. The name 'Dave'. Breakfast hosts, Kim and Dave, were worried about it becoming extinct and wanted to set a new trend for boys' names.
The team launched a campaign to find a Hobart woman willing to name her baby 'Dave' to ensure that barbecues and workplaces in 20 years' time will continue to have a Dave in the mix.
The campaign had been bubbling along steadily - but without much luck - when Kim and Dave received a phone call from a woman saying her friend had given birth to a boy in the early hours of the morning of 22nd July. Kim and Dave extended their show past 9am and spoke with new mum Melissa Moore. She agreed to name her new baby Dave, as long as they could get her a new kitchen.
Less than an hour later they had met her demand with a host of local businesses coming on board. The guys shook hands and Melissa, with her partner Matt, then proudly announced the arrival of David Xander Moore to be forever known as 'Dave'.
